Art Brokerage: San Diego artist Les Perhacs interprets nature through geometry. He looks to nature for his inspiration, constantly discovering elements of geometry fused with the chaos of nature. Each sculpture in the Chaos series is made from a single geometric form that Perhacs cuts apart to reveal the internal entropy. Beginning with his education at Pratt Institute in New York where he studied under David Smith, Willem & Elaine de Kooning, and Salvador Dali, to his studies at Chouinard Art Institute, his career as an industrial designer and a toy designer, and his time collecting specimens for Marineland of the Pacific and studying ravens for UCLA. All of these important experiences have culminated in this major series of work. His work can be found in public and private collections around the nation including the San Diego International Airport, Whatcom Museum in Washington and the Frye Art Museum in Seattle.
