Marcus Jansen was born in Manhattan, New York City in 1968. Art Historian Jerome A. Donson, (Author of the American Vanguard Exhibitions 1961) notes Jansen as the "innovator of urban expressionism." A former Gulf War soldier who transformed his life from a soldier at war to a soldier in the arts is widely recognized for his edgy socio-political works over the last 15 years that inspire discourse among viewers and have been commissioned for companies like Absolut Vodka, Warner Brothers,FIFA World Cup TM, Ford Motor Company and found Museum collections such as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Russia; the New Britain Museum of American Art; the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas; the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art, Taiwan and the Smithsonian Institution. His work has been exhibited in New York City, London, Paris, Miami, Los Angeles, Moscow and Taiwan.
