This original oil painting by Maui artist Christian Reece Lassen, era 1985 was originally titled "West Maui Daybreak". It was one of ten pieces offered at the initial Lassen showing by Center Art Galleries-Hawaii and was unique as the only "daylight" piece. Original show brochure is included. It was later featured in Lassen's coffee table book as "Spreckelsville". A letter from Jona-Marie Price, President, Lassen Publishing, explained that in 1994 Lassen "decided that the piece was such a special and unique image" that it was selected for "Jewels of Maui", a Suite of Four Limited Edition Graphics, and again renamed "Pearls of Paradise". The work therefore has three names, "West Maui Daybreak", "Spreckelsville". and "Pearls of Paradise". It was last professionally appraised in 1994 at $80,000. The piece has recently been professionally reframed in solid Koa at a cost of $2000.
