 Art Brokerage has two fabulous Paul Manship sculptures for sale. Hercules is available! 1885-1966 - Artist and Sculptor Paul Manship, born in St Paul, Minnesota, USA. Manship studied in New York City and Philadelphia, and attended the American Academy in Rome (1908–12), where he was greatly influenced by antique sculpture. He then returned to the USA, and became renowned for his bronze figurative sculptures, which drew heavily on Roman and Greek sources. Manship's many important commissions include the gilded ‘Prometheus Fountain’ (1934) for the Rockefeller Center, New York City. |

Manship, 1921...there is no edition number, there is no foundry mark....it was purchased from the Manship Quarry Gallery.....the entire Manship estate is now under the supervision of Fiduciary of Boston....there will be no more Manship art available from the estate..... Bruno Bearzi and his foundry in Florence, Italy did much of the Manship sculpture casting.....art history clearly indicates that Bearzi never used a foundry mark on his castings.....Bearzi's biography indicates he cast over 1000 bronze works for American sculptors and sent them stateside.....whether Bearzi did this work is not clear.......The Paul King foundry in Rhode Island did some work with the original molds of Paul Manship for the estate.....one posthumous casting of the Group of Bears in 2003 was sold to the WalMart family museum, Crystal Bridges Museum, for 1 million dollars...whether the King foundry did the David bronze is unclear........the David bronze will be part of a Paul Manship Retrospective this summer in his hometown of Gloucester, Mass
