B.1924 Philip Pearlstein was a leading figure of the naturalism revival that took place in the mid-20th century as a reaction to Abstract Expressionism. His early works consisted mostly of landscapes, but after the 1960�s he began painting realistic nude figures in domestic settings. Although he is sometimes considered to be a Superrealist because of the detail of his paintings, Pearlstein�s work succeeds this title.
