 B. 1931 - Born in New York City, Robert Kipniss studied at that city's famed Art Students League before earning his Master's Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa in 1954. His works are characterized by a simple setting. Often the image is of a house and a few hills in an untouched silence. His colors are subdued and mild. He has exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad with numerous one-person shows. Robert Kipniss is considered as famous a printmaker as a painter. His works in both media are in one hundred museum collections. Many books and catalogues have been published over the years about his thought provoking themes of imaginary landscapes and intimate interiors. There is much hidden color in his monochromatic work.
In recent gallery history we were the first gallery to launch his new watercolors and also have had one prior major exhibition. |
