ELLIE NADELMAN BIOGRAPHY

Art Brokerage: 1882-1946 - Born in Poland, Ellie Nadelman studied in Warsaw and Munich before traveling to Paris around 1903. He stayed there until the beginning of World War I when he moved to London and then continued on to New York City. In 1915, Nadelman held a solo exhibition at Stieglitz’s gallery, which enabled him to acquire several influential patrons. Four years later, he married a wealthy woman and began using his new high society life as satirical subject matter for his sculpture. The Great Depression took its toll on the art market and thus on Nadelman’s career. In 1935, a good deal of his art was accidentally destroyed, ending what was left of his career.
