FRANCES COCKBURN BIOGRAPHY
 
Frances Cockburn was born in Preston, Ontario in 1961. She has been painting professionally since the mid-1990s, working primarily in oil on board, and now lives in Hamilton. A few years ago Frances became captivated by urban scenes and streetscapes. This subject insinuated itself into her painting, and from there into her life. She felt compelled to move to an urban environment. The landscapes of Hamilton, offer urban streetscapes and surprising natural vistas that fascinate her eye. Hamilton's gritty industrial spaces push up against the beauty of the Niagara Escarpment. "The work inspires my place. The place inspires my work."
