GUSTAVE BAUMANN BIOGRAPHY
 
B. 1881-1971 - Gustave Baumann was born in Germany in 1881. Today his genius and individuality are recognized and he is considered to be an American master of color woodcut. Exhibitions of his woodcuts have been viewed across the country and they are included in almost every major museum in the United States. In the Bay Area Baumann's work is included in the collection of the Achenbach Foundation for the Graphic Art and two of his color woodcuts were included in the exhibition Made in California: Art, Image and Identity 1900-2000 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
