Art Brokerage: Hank Willis Thomas was born in 1976 in Plainfield, NJ and traces black history through visual culture in an attempt to dissect, reinterpret, and re-imagine iconic moments from the "black past" and to investigate the complexity of race in America in the 21st century. He was included in "Frequency" at the Studio Museum in Harlem and his work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum, Birmingham Museum of Art and others.
