Jan Hendrix was born in Maasbree, Holland, on the 28th of July, 1949. He
studied at the Ateliers 63, Haarlem, and the Jan van Eyck Akademie in
Maastricht, Holland. Between 1971 and 1976, he lived in France, Portugal,
Norway, and Ireland. He has lived and worked in Mexico since 1978. Hendrix has also collaborated in important projects with architects.It is
through these interventions that he began to work in large formats.
Hendrix’s projects also include collaborations with leading book authors,
among them Seamus Heaney, W. G. Sebald, and Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez. His works are seen in many museums including the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, France; and the Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht, Holland.
