JOHN AXTON BIOGRAPHY
 
Art Brokerage specializes in the original paintings of John Axton. Art Brokerage: (born 1947) Established American artist John Axton plays with color, shadow, light and space in his LANDSCAPE paintings, defying traditional perceptions of Western American art. An Illinois native, Axton first traveled to New Mexico in 1979 where he was so inspired by the Taos landscape and Indians there that he became a full-time painter. This fascination with the American Southwest is apparent in his sparse, yet haunting landscapes. His minimalist treatment of his subjects approaches abstraction, drawing viewers into the canvas as he engages their imaginations.
