NEO RAUCH BIOGRAPHY
 
b.1960, in Leipzig, East Germany. A German artist whose monumental paintings owe a debt to Surrealists Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte. With echoes of socialist realism, Rauch exhaustively mines the intersection of his personal history with the politics of industrial alienation. He studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, and he lives and works in Leipzig (Leipziger aumwollspinnerei), Germany.
