b. 1967 Eliasson prefers not to share too much about his own background, believing that biography is often overemphasized in writings about an artist’s work. Eliasson's mother was a dressmaker; his father was a cook and amateur painter. A little-known fact about his youth is that as a teenager, Eliasson was the break-dancing champion of Scandinavia.
