SERGE POLIAKOFF BIOGRAPHY
 
1906-1969 Serge Poliakoff was born in Russian and moved to Paris in 1923. He became a French citizen in 1962. He initially made a living as a guitar player until he began painting in 1930. He studied at multiple institutions, including the Slade School while he was in London from 1935 to 1937. He painted figuratively under he returned to Paris and met Kandinsky and the Delaunays. He then began painting abstracts and eventually became a leading abstract painter in the Ecole de Paris.
