WILSON SILSBY BIOGRAPHY
 
American Artist Wilson Silsby is known for his Etchings. Born and educated in Chicago schools and private tutors including William Merrit Chase. Owned Silsby Scenic Studios in Chicago & New York to supervise Silsby's stage setting designs for the foremost theatrical stars under producers David Belasco, the Shuberts, Klaw & Erlanger, Clyde Fitch and the New York Metropolitan Opera. Wilson Silsby was the Art Director for Universal Film Studios, Pathe Freres Films, Hearst Intl. Films and Fox Films. He had studios in Los Angeles and Paris. Silsby was a neighbor of Rodin, knew him and became a close friend of his son. Included in 50 Museums worldwide like the Uffizi Gallery, Bibliotheque Nationale, the British Museum, the Chicago Art Institute, the Library of Congress, etc. He instructed at Los Angeles Art Academy. .
