B. 1919 - John Vignari is a prolific artist, and also an educator, author, instructor and lecturer. He was born in New York City where he began his art career over four decades ago. His early work reflects his fascination with the Sea, and his seascapes prompted critics to dub him "Man of the Sea." He worked on the New York and Brooklyn waterfront as a longshoreman for seven years before becoming an artist. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Armed forces and is a veteran. He spends his summers in Ogunquit, Maine, and the winters in Florida where he now resides with his wife in Deerfield Beach.
