Having trouble with our site? Please try our live tech support
1. How much does it cost to place a classified ad with Art Brokerage?
Listings are FREE. There is a commission due only when the art sells. The commission is 20% on all sales above $5,000, and 25% on all sales below $5,000. The commission is automatically added to your net asking price when you enter or edit your listing.

2. How long is my listing up? Is there a minimum listing term? What does it cost if I cancel my listing?
Listings are free, there is a 90 day minimum term for an exclusive listing on our site. Exclusive listing means not listing your artwork with any other galleries, dealers, or internet sites, including ebay during this 90 day period. You may cancel your listings at any time (even before the 90 days) without penalty however we do ask that you list with the intent to sell. You may also ask to have your listings placed on hold, in which case we can easily relist later. Please notify us if you have sold your art so we can remove your listing.

3. How do I take a quality photo? What are Art Brokerage's photo requirements?
Quality photos sell art, this is so important we are going to say it again... QUALITY PHOTOS SELL ART! Please read through our Photo Guide to make sure your listing has nice photos.

4. How do I edit my listing once its been approved? can I change the price? can I upload new photos?
You may edit your listings at any time by logging in to your account. Minor price changes are automated but if you change the body of the ad or the photos your listing will be pulled from the site for approx 24 hours so our staff can review the changes.

5. How do I cancel my listing?
You may cancel your listings at any time by logging into your account and removing the listings.

6. How can I tell how many people have viewed my listing? How many inquiries have there been?
You can check your watchlist page in your member control panel to see if any buyers have added your listing to their watchlist/favorites. You cannot currently track how many people have viewed your listing. That being said as of April 2009 we are receiving more than100,000 unique visitors per month with a steady growth rate of between 5-11% per month. Our more popular artists like Andy Warhol and Andrew Wyeth receive more then5,000 unique visitors per month.

7. My art has been listed for some time and there has been little interest, what can I do?
You may want to mark your listing as OBO (OR BEST OFFER), MUST SELL or MAKE OFFER. Adding a pricing tag may encourage offers on your art and can be done from your member control panel. We also recommend doing some price research and to remember that this is the secondary art market, nobody pays retail. If you are listing your works at or close to retail your art is probably overpriced.

8. How do I safely ship and pack my art once its sold? Who pays for the shipping/packing?
Please read the Shipping Guide for complete instructions. The seller is responsible for packing/crating costs (including shipping or delivering the art to a professional crater if needed), the buyer is responsible for shipping costs. Our staff will assist with each shipping transaction to ensure a smooth delivery.

9. I sold and shipped my art, what happens now? when do I get paid?
When your art has been shipped to the buyer, the buyer must approve the art before Art Brokerage will release payment. Seller's will be paid within 7 days of approval via a company check.

10. I'm not sure how much my art is worth, can Art Brokerage help me formulate an asking price?
It is important to understand, that for legal reasons, Art Brokerage does not assist with pricing. Please do not email us asking for assistance with pricing. For more information on pricing your art please read our Pricing Guide, a guide which helps you find the appropriate resources to accurately price the work you are listing.

11. I want to list my art with Art Brokerage but my artist is not listed? How do I add an artist?
Art Brokerage currently accepts listings from more than 1500 artists. If your artist is not in our database please read more about adding an artist here.

12. Why do I see listing under $2,000 on the site if you say you will not approve any listings under $2,000? Recently, Art Brokerage has changed it's minimum value listing policy but we continue to honor our existing clients and give exception to those clients that we have long-term relationships with and we have many such clients. As a company dealing with fine artworks for nearly 25 years we have acquired our own inventory which we also list on our site. Some of these works are valued at under $2,000.

In the last year Art Brokerage has handled many transactions over $100,000 and up to $1,000,000. YES! High end artwork is now being sold via the internet. At this level it becomes highly personal. We are available for curating and liquidating personal and corporate collections.

We will do everything for you except determine the value of your art. Art Brokerage will handle the entire transaction and assist you with shipping. We act as the escrow for the art and collect the funds before we have asked you to ship the art. Art Brokerage will provide bank and client references when a sale has been consummated. We do not provide references to people who have not registered their artwork with our website.

Art Brokerage does not have the staff to assist with pricing. Please remember it is not up to us to determine the value of your art. We are not appraisers. It is our goal to sell your art. This policy is in place because if we price the art too high and it does not sell the sellers get upset. If we price it too low and it sells too quickly the seller will think we priced it too low. This creates a conflict of interest for us. For more information please read through our pricing guide.

Art Brokerage will allow you to list your art for free but we ask that you be willing to sell your art at fair market value, and not at retail gallery prices. Realistic pricing is what makes our site the number one fine art classifieds site on the web.

There is a 20% commission on all sales above our minimum of $5,000. Anything priced below $5,000 will be sold with a 25% commission. We do not accept listings with a fair market asking price below $2,000. Art Brokerage has 50 years experience in the art business and 13 years with a web presence.

Any person who knowingly and willfully lists any fraudulent artwork will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Our principals have 50 years combined experience in the art business and our site has 14 years on the internet. We have owned and administrated five galleries, published artists in both sculpture and print editions, curated private and corporate collections and have sold more than $250 million dollars in artwork. When a transaction over $25,000 has been formalized, we will provide bank, attorney, trade and client references if necessary.
