Art Brokerage: Noelito: Growing up in the Philippines, without the media or material diversion found in the West, six year old Noelito used an abundant creativity to occupy his days. Resources being scares, he painted on whatever was available. Pieces of an old wooded fence, scraps of paper and burlap bags were is first canvases. Noelito is self-taught, but not unstudied. He draws his inspirations and style from the works for Rembrandt and the earlier Flemish innovators. Noelito employs a technique called Chiaroscuro, or contrasting light and shadow effects, to achieve the dramatic balance between the elements in his paintings and Glazings, applied oil paints in superimposed translucent layers, attaining the rich, glowing colors of his magical moonlit skies and brilliant sunsets.
