Art Brokerage: John Milton Morris American Artist: John Milton Morris was born in Laguna Beach, California in 1920. His love of painting is shown in his work by capturing the essence of his subjects rather than their outward appearance, a principle he followed throughout his career. He visited France often and was so taken with its art, especially Impressionism, that he translated this “sense of livingness” to his canvases. During WWII, he became the official combat artist in the South Pacific which led to his work being included in the exhibition at the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. His paintings have been included in the collections of the Modern Museum of Art, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, the Honolulu Academy of Art, the Santa Barbara Museum, and others. Among his collectors have been Mrs. Aristotle Onassis, Frederick Loewe, Bing Crosby and many others worldwide.Mr. Morris, the American Impressionist, was honored in 2006 with the inclusion of his work in the world renowned galleries of the Vatican. When you see a piece by Morris, you will usually find that he has incorporated nuns within his subject matter.
