Art Brokerage: Nancy Frye American Artist: b. 1934-2006. Born in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, the artist's masterful paintings depict scenes of everyday life from her rural roots to visited city scenes. Painting basically from her own photographs, Frye's large format works invitingly entice the viewer into the image. The multifaceted artist was in the late stages of medical school when she decided to go into research. Frye then pursued engineering, became a teacher, and continued to increase her education and passion for photography, drawing, etching, and printmaking. The result of these technical skills, combined with her artistic fervor, establishes Nancy Frye as one of today's masters. Whether the subject matter in Frye's works is reflecting a Rockwell-like everyday slice of life, or a Grant Wood-like portrait of everyday people, all are provocative and inspirational. Frye captures in explicit detail the grand and un-staged drama within her canvases every bit as eloquently as some of the world's greatest painters who have influenced her style. She attributes artists such as Eakins, Bierstandt, Rubens, and Rembrandt for providing such inspiration. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
