Art Brokerage: Remo Molina Argentine Artist: b. 1974. For Argentine artist Remo Molina, the latest Marilyn Monroe controversy is erupting with the world-premiere of a shocking new video and painting, entitled Persistence of Marilyn Monroe's Memory-A Tribute by Remo. In Remo's work, Marilyn Monroe stars with strange bedfellows Salvador Dali, Mick Jagger, Adolph Hitler, Mona Lisa, Mae West and the Atomic Bomb in the painting and in the quasi documentary video. This is an updated interpretation by the controversial 36 year-old Argentine metaphysical artist Remo of the Salvador Dali surreal masterpiece Persistence of Memory which Dali painted in 1931. Remo's tribute is causing an uproar because of Remo's surprising portrait of the Marilyn Monroe nude calendar in relationship to footage from her movie "The Seven Year Itch" and the footage of the Atomic Bomb. The painting and video with its explicit artistic statements may have raised the ante and could prove to be the most revealing shocker yet in the long history of La Monroe shockers. Remo has been acclaimed as "a cross between Dali and Escher ... as reportedly Buenos Aires surfaces as the "Art Capital of the World". Remo is also known for his controversial art project "Experiment Project Zero." But looking back over the years, perhaps the most significant Marilyn Monroe phenomena in Modern Art began with another pop art icon himself --- Andy Warhol. Since her alleged suicide in August, 1962, Marilyn Monroe's artful legend has taken on a life of its own! Even before her death, along with Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, James Dean, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley, she had become the world's favorite pop and cultural icon --- almost exclusively from Marilyn Monroe photos, but also from her films and film clips. Her most renowned sex symbol images, all aptly represented in the new Molina work, are her world-famous nude calendar in 1952; her sexy rendering of "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" for President Kennedy at Madison Square Garden, New York in 1962; her notorious "dress billowing footage" in the 1955 film "The Seven Year Itch;" and her Andy Warhol enhanced screen prints that today command an investment value in the six figures per single limited edition print for art collectors of Monroe memorabilia. In addition to the visions of Marilyn Monroe and Salvador Dali, the new Remo painting updates other world-changing and history-making people and events since 1931: Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, Adolph Hitler, Mona Lisa, Mae West and the Atomic Bomb.
