Art Brokerage: Victor Bregeda Russian Artist: b. 1963. Victor Bregeda was born in 1963 in the city of Taganrog, Russia, into a family of painters. He was attracted by the Dutch school of painting. The artists who most inspired him were Leonardo da Vinci, Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, Max Ernst, Nicholas Roerich, and he states, "I also like the French school of the 18th and 19th centuries... and in addition, the works of Andrew Wyeth. My artistic abilities are in my blood, thanks to my forefathers, and I grew up in a strong creative environment. " Bregeda's key directions are working with en plein air landscapes, still lifes and portraits, done in a metarealistic style with a strong influence of subconscious philosophy. The artist uses a mélange of techniques, materials and styles and tries to invent new ones. Christianity is a subject with a special place in Bregeda's art. The best selling artwork, Eucharist was the first in a series of paintings with Christian symbolism. He used his surrealistic art to portray the image of the Last Supper, Jesus and the idea of divine love. The paintings are interconnected by subjects, composition and artistic method of transformation of images. The candle, being the symbol of light and Christian faith, transforms into the image of Christ and The Twelve Apostles. The image of Jesus Christ can be seen in the flames of Eucharist, while the Apostles, bowed in devotion before their teacher, can be seen in the outlines of the wax candle. The artist states that he has been painting since he can first remember himself. After attending an art school, Bregeda made a decision to move forward with his personal interpretation of creative art placing himself in sharp contrast with the academic art training. Bregeda’s art is featured internationally, while the artist splits his time between the United States and Russia. Bregeda enjoys exploring new international scenes and pushing his artistic creativity to the new levels. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
