    Provenance / HistoryThis work is 27.5 x 21.5 and projects outward from the frame by 6 inches...it has a collapsed cubist space articulated by the pictorial mass dominating the upper right and downward part of the pictorial plane. The visual metaphors in play include the idea of pictorial space collapsing into a perceptual deconstructed grouping of shapes with individual patterns and colors...in a way, this is a start point for neuropsychology and the distribution of information to various parts of the brain to be used for perceptual construction. This is one of three work left from a group of studies done for what became the Octopus Meditations Series of which the majority are installed permanently in the Rockwell Integrated Science Center as an example of the powerful insights gained by collaborative work between Art and Science. 
    Story / Additional InfoThis work finds its roots in the physicality and gesture found in abstract-expressionism. Entangled with the deep expressionist tendencies is the emotional use of color to generate pictorial movement and visual plasticity through physical space. Materiality and brisk manipulation of materials such as plywood enhance the colorful manipulation of space....a unique, colorful work.
