    Story / Additional InfoThis work is inspired by a trip to Mexico where the artist attended a huge fiesta. She was intrigued by the bright, intense colors and costumes. The artist often collects Hispanic related clothing, jewelry, and other objects on her travels and uses them in her still life paintings. The child's dress was one she bought for her grand-daughter in San Miguel de Allende. She is also a bicyclist as is her son and included a calavera (skull) and skeleton commonly found at Day of the Dead celebrations. She captures the sense of excitement, joy, and celebration in this work.
