He received his BFA from Cooper Union in 2000 and his MFA from Columbia University in 2002. McGrath makes paintings from the viewpoint of a car passenger, his canvasses focused on the surrounding landscape rather than any human presence. His style is impressionistic and is based on photo-collages using pictures of his own journeys.
