Provenance / HistoryThis work is one of three remaining painting/collages done as a preamble to what became the Octopus Meditations series now housed permanently in the Rockwell Integrated Science Center, Lafayette College as a tribute to collaborations in Art and Science. The work's main feature is a heavy, collapsed concentration of pictorial shapes into an undifferentiated mass.....metaphorically destroying illusionistic pictorial space...a form of early cubist ideas that dominated modern concepts of space in the 20th century. The piece explores metaphors of early life forms,
