    Story / Additional InfoThe Vatican of the Roman Catholic Church commissioned the artist Ruth Mayer to paint a portrait of Pope John Paul II in September 2003. A large painting was made and presented to the Pope. This is a smaller version of the same painting that the artist created, which was also presented to and blessed by the Pope himself (see picture).
