Ira Yeager

Born in 1938 in Bellingham, WA, Yeager studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy.. He developed a deep connection to Bay Area Figurative artists like Richard Diebenkorn and Elmer Nelson Bischoff, both of whom were his teachers and strongly shaped Yeager's work and practice. After traveling and living in Corfu, Greece and New York, NY, the artist returned to California for good in the 1970s. He is known for his whimsical depictions of animals, flowers, 18th-century figures, and portraits of Native Americans.
