Art Brokerage: Irene Monat Stern American Artist: b. 1932-2010. The Polish-born artist lived in Paris and later moved to New York after surviving the Holocaust. She took classes at the New York School for Social Research, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Irene Monat Stern created large stained abstract canvases featuring overlapping veils that look like creases; the outward billow of her variegated forms often resembles floral blossoms as they add a spatial dimension unusual in color field paintings. Stern allowed her diluted colors to bleed together in works such as Untitled (ca. 1965–75), providing an almost translucent effect. Listings wanted.
