Vena Grebenshikov - Russian Federation
Art Brokerage: Vena Grebenshikov is a full-time, professionally trained artist from Siberia, Russia. Since he graduated from the Architectural College of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 1978 he has pursued artistic careers in interior design, architecture, metal sculpting, and painting. His initial artistic connection with New Orleans was in 2001 where his artistic talents merged into a focused vibrant career in oil painting. Every piece of art manifests from a photograph or an image that he sees in everyday life of New Orleans. In this way Grebenshikov is able to capture a unique reality of the French Quarter. And in the past five years this initial response has become his key influence as he has continued to paint canvases capturing the unique New Orleans architecture with such images of rustic brick and plaster walls that tower above the narrow streets. His main way of illustrating these visuals is through a style most similar to impasto painting techniques. This gives a sense of three-dimensionality to the texture of the art by using palette knife to apply pigment (acrylic or oil paint) thickly on to the canvas. With this rich painting style Grebenshikov's intent is to allow people everywhere exposure to current beauty, charm, and history of New Orleans. Listings wanted by Art Brokerage.
