Alfred Dabat

He began his first artistic studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, before leaving with a grant from the General Government to complete his training in Paris at the highly sought-after workshops of history painter Jean-Paul Laurens, at the Academie Julian between 1893 and 1898. He is famous for his 'Orientalist' paintings, with their sense of mystery and exoticism, and particularly in his lifetime for the boldness of his color and an innate skill of composition.
