In 1905, he founded the Little Galleries of the Photo-Secession with the help of Edward Steichen, located at 291 Fifth Avenue in New York City. He organized many exhibitions at the gallery that later became known as 291, helping to put photography on the same level as painting and sculpture. Stieglitz promoted his Photo-Secessionist and Pictorialist movements by publishing the journals, Camera Notes and Camera Work.
