Larry Zox - United States
Art Brokerage: American artist, Lawrence "Larry" Zox, (1937-2006) was born in Iowa. He was a painter and printmaker who is classified as an Abstract expressionist, Color Field painter and a Lyrical Abstractionist, but more often he described himself as a colorist. Zox attended Oklahoma University and Drake University. He studied with George Grosz at the Des Moines Art Center in Iowa. Larry Zox was influenced early on by the work of Franz Kline and Willem de Kooning. His work came to prominence in American art in the 1960’s, and his career now spans over decades of rigorously exploring formalist abstraction. His work has been exhibited in many one-person and group shows including the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York); the Museum of Modern Art (NY); Albright-Knox Art Gallery (Buffalo, New York); Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (NY). Listings Wanted
